After five years of its glorious existence and steady growth, the Faculty of The Faculty of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics of Singhania University, established the Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. With the involvement of leading academic institutes and industry, Faculty aims to attain high standards in biotechnology and bioinformatics education, research and entrepreneurship.
Facilities:
A hassle-free environment, with high speed internet connectivity, uninterrupted power supply, round the clock security, good maintenance of all equipment and central air-conditining makes Faculty of Biotech & bioinformatics an ideal place for any motivated knowledge seeker. Staff and faculty (in-house and visiting) are all very accessible for help and advice. The friendly, congenial atmosphere makes working at University campus a pleasure. Programmes:
The B.Tech Course in Biotechnology & Bioinformatics started in 2003. The first batch of these 4-years courses is now Doing their course work. Overall, 90% of these students have found jobs in industry. After getting status of University in October 2007, Faculty of Biotech & Bioinformatics started M.Tech, M.Sc., B.Tech-cum-M.Tech. Integrated, M.Phil and Ph.D. programmes in various research areas of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. Details of these programmes are to be found in the hyperlink of Department section.
Research:
The main areas of the faculty's expertise and interest include Tissue culture, Molecular Characterization of Medicinal Plants, Somatic Embryo (Dr. Abdul Ilah); Sequence analysis, Motif Search, Promoter Mapping, Genomic characterization of intermediates of Polyhydroxyalkanoates metabolic pathway, Inflammatory Genes & Pathways, Sequence Dependen Structural Properties of DNA, and Computational Structural Biology by Genetic Algorithms; (Mr. Md. Alamgeer). The research activities involve both computational and experimental approaches. Collaborative and contract research projects are also being considered.
